Sister Marie Pappas, C.R.
Sister Marie Pappas belongs to the Congregation of the Resurrection, holding a bachelor of arts degree from the College of St. Rose in Albany, New York, as well as graduate degrees from the Notre Dame Pontifical Institute in Arlington, Virginia, and the New York Archdiocesan School of Spirituality, as well as the advanced professional diploma from Fordham University. She has worked in Catholic education throughout her entire religious life, serving in the Dioceses of Trenton and Albany and the Archdiocese of New York.
During the past nine years, Sister Marie has served in many capacities within the Office of Superintendent of Schools in New York City, including that of Associate Superintendent for Mission Effectiveness, Interim Superintendent of Schools, Associate Secretary of Education, and Associate Superintendent of Religious Education. Prior to, and concurrently, Sister Marie has served as Adjunct Professor of Catechetics at St Joseph’s Seminary.
Sister Marie has received many awards, such as ITV Moderator of the Year for News and Views (May 21, 1993); The Sylvia Muldoon Woman of Spirit Award from Westchester Women (October 18, 2007); Seventh Annual Gala Honor from St. Ann’s Parish School in Ossining, New York (April 30, 2008); and the Sapientia et Doctrina Award from Fordham University (November 1, 2008). She has written several articles for printed publications and has produced numerous radio show broadcasts.
