Director of the Marian Library/International Marian Research Institute
at the University of Dayton since 1989, Fr. Johann G. Roten, a Marianist from
Switzerland, was formerly director of the Ecole Normale des Instituteurs in Sion
(Valais), Switzerland (1974-1987), and for some time assistant professor for social
philosophy at the University of Fribourg. He has a licentiate in philosophy and
theology (Fribourg), and has done doctoral studies in both the social studies
(dissertation on philosophical foundations of social change) and theology
(dissertation on the theological anthropology of Hans Urs von Balthasar) at
Fribourg, Münster and Louvain. He is a member of many learned societies
worldwide, an international speaker and has published on a variety of topics,
namely on theological anthropology, religious art, and Marian studies.
